Lego Marvel’s Avengers is one of the best super hero games I have played. This game doesn’t have as diverse a cast as the previous Lego Marvel game, but it makes up for that with fun places to explore. The story follows the two Avengers films and has levels based off the first two captain America films, Iron man 3, and Thor the dark world. If you have seen all of these films then you will know the story. The game retells the story, but with a funny Lego spin.
One thing that really makes this game stand out from all the other super hero games is that you have all the avengers powers. Iron Man can fly, Thor can use lightning, Black Widow can use her guns, and Hawkeye uses his bow with different arrows. There is a big selection of people to play from: Ultron, Loki and even Thanos. For this game they have brought a lot of character who aren’t well known by many fans of the films, characters like Squirrel Girl. Create a character returns so you can make whatever super hero or SHIELD Agent you want.
There are a total of 15 levels to explore and collect comic pages. In order to get the red bricks you need to talk to the collector in each level and get something for him. Stan Lee returns and you have to save him again from different situations. The over world map this time is New York, but there are also 7 other smaller hub worlds with things to collect. These include Asgard, Malibu, Washington DC, South Africa, SHIELD base, Hawkeye’s farm, and Sokovia.
This game is a lot of fun, but if you’re not a fan of Marvel or the MCU you may want to pass on this one. I had a lot of fun, but I also enjoyed the films that this game is based off. With all this in mind, I give this game a rating of 8.5/10. I gave it this due to all the things the game has you explore and things you can do.
Pros: You get to explore Asgard, explore all of New York, Lots to collect, Lots of replay ability.
Cons: No Spider-Man, limited to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, No Deadpool or X-Men.
