On October 24th, RMU held its 15th annual Creepy Conference. Students were invited to dress up in costume and cruise on over to the Wheatley Atrium for a Halloween-themed night of gothic presentations. Five lucky students were chosen to present in front of the jam-packed room.
The spooky subjects consisted of an interactive science fiction tier list, the Philadelphia experiment, history’s deadliest tiger, the mysterious death of Edgar Allen Poe, and analog horror. Each presentation was extremely interesting and engaging. The decorations and wide range of costumes made for a very atmospheric experience.
After the presentations were done, the costume contest began, and students began to mill around and look at everyone’s fun Halloween costumes. My personal favorite was two girls dressed up as the Lorax and the Onceler. All the costumes were exceptional, it was clear a lot of thought and effort was put in from the attendees.
As someone with morbid sensibilities, the Creepy Conference was a must-see. Gothic and creepy topics are absolutely my favorite to learn about and listen to. So if you’re like me, but missed the conference this year, make sure to mark your calendars for next year!
