The Robert Morris University Class of 2027 officers buried a time capsule on Thursday, March 27, to create a story for their class and set a unique precedent.
This was the first time capsule created at Robert Morris. The Class of 2027 students in attendance were the only ones allowed to place items into the capsule. They were also able to sign their names on a scroll to be placed inside.
“The mindset behind this event was to create a story for our class and set a unique precedent for classes to come after us, so they remember and kind of see the way we saw the university,” said Vice President Angie Banos.
Various items, including photos, notes, letters, and small memorabilia, were added.
“First and foremost, we wanted to do something for our sophomore year, for the Class of 2027. We wanted to make this year feel special,” said Marketing Director Alex Hennon. “As class officers, that was our job.”
Hennon and the rest of the officers hope this could become a new RMU tradition.
The time capsule will be opened on RMU’s 150th anniversary in 2071.
