On Saturday and Sunday, Top Secret Colonials hosted their 20th 24-Hour Gaming Marathon. The 24-Hour Gaming Marathon is a charity event where students play video games for a full 24-hour period.
The proceeds of the event will go to the Best of the Batch Foundation, which was founded by former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch. The charity gives educational, athletic, community, and leadership programming skills to financially challenged communities.
Gamers came out and played all sorts of games, including “Red Dead Redemption 2,” “Gran Turismo 7,” “Mario Kart Wii,” “Call of Duty,” “For Honor,” and much more. They brought PCs, PS5s, and even pillows and blankets to sleep. There were tournaments as well, including “Madden,” “Mario Kart 8,” and “Super Smash Bros.” to name a few. Even President Patrick was getting in on the fun of playing bowling in “Wii Sports.”
Kate Shannon, one of the organizers, said, “It is the biggest event that Top Secret Colonials puts on every semester. Over 100 students show up at every event, and it always benefits a local Pittsburgh charity or organization. Our next gaming marathon is on March 22nd-23rd, so please show up and have some fun!”
Local gamer Jordan Sass said about the Gaming Marathon, “It is very fun to game with my friends and connect with people who I haven’t seen in a while.”
The Top Secret Colonials will hold the next Gaming Marathon on March 22nd and 23rd in the Wheatley Center, and they are hopeful for even more people come out and enjoy the activities.
