Hello! I’m Jarrod, and I care about the Pittsburgh Pirates more than anybody really should. Now, when I say care, what I really mean is sitting with my face in the palms of my hands for 18 (possibly 19 depending on if the Pirates continue their end of the season free fall) straight seasons. What I really mean is fearing the trade deadline more than contracting diseases from the floors of college community showers. And what I really mean is holding a lifelong grudge towards Dave Littlefield for ruining every baseball season of my life.
While every losing season the Pirates had wasn’t Littlefield’s fault, it’s safe to say that 99.99% of the blame should be aimed at the former general manager. However, after being ushered out the door near the end of the 2007 season, Neal Huntington took control of a baseball team that was in “Ground Zero” form.
All of this really leaves me no choice but to title this blog after our beloved former GM. So this is where “Life after Littlefield” begins its journey as the newest Pittsburgh Pirates blog giving daily updates and insight of your current Buccos, and as a freshman at Robert Morris University, hopefully by graduation Dave Littlefield will be just a minute part of the Pirates’ history.
