Some of our favorite shows are heading back into production! That is right, the SAG-AFTRA Strike is over! The SAG-AFTRA Strike started July 14th, 2023, and halted the film and television industry, stopping tons of different movies and TV shows from being filmed. Actors stopped working, protested, and refused to promote their latest projects in appearances and interviews. They recently reached a deal that still has to be voted on by the union membership to be approved.
According to CBS News, the deal “includes ‘above-pattern’ minimum compensation increases, unprecedented provisions for consent and compensation that will protect members from the threat of AI, and for the first time establishes a streaming participation bonus.”
Here are a few new things on the horizon in Hollywood! “Stranger Things” is now gearing up for its fifth and final season, rumored to be released in 2025. “Deadpool 3” is still releasing in 2024, just a few months past the original date, now it is set to release in July 2024. A reimagined classic, Disney’s “Snow White” is now set to release in 2025. Fun fact the original hired actress was dropped from the film as a result of the strike and has since been recast. “Wednesday” will return with season 2 in late 2024.
