For the first time in 17 years, the quintessential Emo band My Chemical Romance will perform the entirety of their landmark album “Welcome to the Black Parade.”
This will be the second tour that the band will be performing since reuniting in 2019 after their split in 2013. MCR’s reunion tour was set back to 2022 after the COVID-19 Pandemic when they toured North America and released their first new song “The Foundations of Decay” since 2014.
The tour, titled “Long Live: The Black Parade,” was announced on November 13th through videos posted to social media. In one video, a man dressed as “a grand dictator” walks out onto a balcony and looks out over a mass of people in an apparently dystopian future.
Along with the video, the band released the statement:
“It has been seventeen years since The Black Parade was sent to the MOAT. In that time, a great Dictator has risen to power, bringing about “THE CONCRETE AGE”; a glorious time of stability and abundance in the history of DRAAG. His Grand Immortal Dictator wishes to celebrate our rich and storied culture, fine foods, and musical entertainments by welcoming you to these great demonstrations of power and resolve. And lending voice and song for the first time in six thousand two hundred and forty six days, their work privilege ceremoniously reinstated, will be His Grand Immortal Dictator’s National Band… The Black Parade.”
The band’s current lineup consists of singer Gerard Way and his brother Mikey on bass, as well as rhythm guitarist Frank Iero and Lead guitarist Ray Toro, including a revolving set of drummers. Mikey Way and Iero each posted messages on their Instagram stories about their excitement for the band’s touring return.
MCR most recently performed at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas in October, where they played “Welcome to the Black Parade” and other hits from their several other hit albums.
The tour will open in Seattle on July 11th, 2025, and play shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Arlington, East Rutherford, Philadelphia, Toronto, Chicago, and Boston before wrapping up in Tampa on September 13th.
Several famous openers will join the band for their concerts during the tour, including the Violent Femmes, Pixies, DEVO, and Evanescence.
