Egg scarcity continues to rise as over 100,000 eggs were stolen from Pete and Gerry’s Organics distribution center in Greencastle, PA on Feb. 5.
The eggs are valued at roughly $40,000.
This coincides with the use of eggs and egg prices as political bargaining chips, specifically by the Trump campaign, which helped him win over the middle-class vote.
Avian flu is to blame for the scarcity, as the flu killed millions of egg-laying hens in November and December alone according to the USDA.
