The final “Woj Bomb” has dropped. ESPN’s Senior NBA Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, has announced that he will retire from the sports media industry. He announced on Instagram Wednesday morning, Sept 18.
Wojnarowski plans on stepping aside from the media industry and has plans to take over the St. Bonaventure Athletics General Manager position. Wojnarowski is a 1991 St. Bonaventure alumnus and plans to join them following his retirement from ESPN and the sports media industry.
Wojnarowski had a legendary 17-year run in the main spotlight of the sports media industry. Wojnarowski joined Yahoo Sports in 2007 and spent ten years with the organization. However, he made a move to the “Worldwide Leader in Sports,” ESPN in 2017. He hit his “prime” with ESPN, as NBA fans looked at him as the most trusted reporter. He spent the past seven years as the senior NBA insider at ESPN. Reporting for ESPN about the NBA included players’ status of games, player and team developments, league developments, and mainly his free agency “Woj bombs”.
Wojnarowski stated in an Instagram post this morning “I understand the commitment required in my role and it’s an investment that I’m no longer driven to make. Time isn’t in endless supply and I want to spend mine in ways that are more personally meaningful.” He is stepping away from the sports media industry to spend time with his family and the St Bonaventure men’s basketball team.
It is widely agreed by fans that the sports media industry is losing one of the greatest to ever do it. There is nothing that can fully fill the void of a “Woj bomb.”
