A burglary is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. It occurred at a gun shop in Marshall Township, Allegheny County on Monday morning.
The police were notified by a security alarm and discovered that the suspects smashed windows in order to get inside the Keystone Shooting Center on Sheraton Drive. Many guns were stolen, but an exact number has not been provided by ATF yet.
ATF spokesperson Ben Benson said in an email to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4, “The thieves broke a window with a hammer or such, setting off the alarm, and stole a number of firearms.”
A similar incident occurred in Bethel Park months prior.
Over 50 guns were stolen from Allegheny Arms in January. A group of people shot into the store during that burglary to shatter an armored window and then smashed multiple guncases in a short amount of time. A stolen car was also used during that crime.
Four juveniles were arrested on unrelated charges connected to the burglary following the Bethel Park incident.
The ATF has not yet commented on whether they believe the same suspects involved in the Bethel Park burglary are connected to the incident at the Keystone Shooting Center.
The center was closed after the burglary but has since reopened.
The Department of Justice declined to comment on this case.
