Changes coming to RMU Library
Students received an e-mail early Friday afternoon regarding the changes coming to the library in the near future. The RMU Library’s main floor will be undergoing a renovation between the end of the Fall 2013 semester and the start of the Spring 2014 semester. The purpose of the upcoming renovations is to make the library more appealing for student use and to add seating to make it a more study-friendly environment, according to President Gregory Dell’Omo in a recent interview.
This will cause some resources to be unavailable as the renovation process gets underway. Microfilms/microfiche, print periodicals/bound journals, and the reference books will be unavailable after November 24. General collection books, the Textbook Reserve Collection, faculty reserve books, and IRC books will be unavailable after December 14.
The Library itself will stay open to the public for as long as possible in keeping with the current schedule. Normal hours can be found at www.rmu.edu/library . The Library will close to the public earlier than expected if the environment becomes unsafe during renovations. Those interested can check the RMU news blog, library Facebook page, and library Twitter feed for updates.
Students are reminded that electronic resources such as EBSCO and ProQuest will be continue to available throughout the entire renovation and winter break.
