A local security business in Moon Township is providing one of its schools a first-of-its-kind safety system. Martin Communications, located in McKees Rocks, installed safety buttons throughout Rhema Christian School.
The buttons when pressed, alert law enforcement. Don Martin, president of Martin Communications, said law enforcement will be “notified within seconds, not minutes,”
The button will also give details on where specifically in the building it was pressed, taking police straight to where they need to be. Added to the system is AI technology connected to the already installed security cameras.
Based on the pending “Alyssa’s Law” bill, this might soon be a common factor in schools across the state. The bill was named after one of the victims in Florida’s Parkland School tragedy.
Until then, Martin is in contact with other districts to install the system, costing up to $20,000 to install. Rhema got it for free as a gift from the business.
