On March 12 at 8:54 a.m., a house in Crescent Township exploded, leaving two people dead.
The two victims have not been publicly identified as of March 12.
The explosion was so severe that it “completely leveled” the home and caused a fire along the hillside. It was also heard and felt for miles throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Crescent Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Andrew Tomer said, “I know the reports that the explosion was heard and felt throughout all of Crescent, Moon, into Robinson, across the river. It was a decent-sized explosion.”
Multiple municipalities responded and natural gas workers responded to the scene. The cause of the explosion has not yet been identified. Chief Tomer did say that there is a private gas well on the property as well as propane tanks, which were taken by first responders.
