A Delta flight crash-landed and overturned while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport, en route from Minneapolis.
On Monday afternoon, Delta Flight 4819 crashed while landing at 2:48 local time (EST). Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials announced that there were 80 passengers on board, including the pilot and staff. All 80 people were evacuated.
There were nine injuries reported, with one passenger in critical condition and another pediatric passenger in critical but non-life-threatening condition. The severely injured victim was life-flighted to a nearby medical center where they are undergoing treatment.
The Federal Aviation Administration made a statement that they were aware of the crash, and Canada’s Minister of Transport stated that she was “closely following the serious incident.”
The weather at the time of the crash was not ideal and could have played a part in the unfortunate incident. There were reports of wind gusts up to 40 mph. There was also reported to be snow in the area. The airport was also expecting to have a busy weekend due to the rescheduling of flights that were canceled throughout the week due to snow/weather conditions.
This accident comes at a very unfortunate time. In 2025 alone, there have been four major aviation disasters in the United States, claiming the lives of at least 85 people.
As of now, there have been no updates on the stability of the critically injured passengers and no further statements made by the airline or the FAA.
