Communities across Pennsylvania are gearing up for election day. These local races are very important and cannot be overlooked. These local elections are the foundation of our society as these local positions influence way more aspects of our lives than we think. Besides the Presidential election, many other races can hold stakes in our lives.
Senate Race
Incumbent Bob Casey Jr (D)
Dave McCormick (R)
Bob Casey is the Incumbent and he is up for reelection. Casey has been the senator since 2007 and is looking to continue serving. Dave McCormick who is the challenger is from Washington County. He served under the Bush administration in the early 2000s.
Polls show that Bob Casey has the edge over Dave McCormick the day before the election.
Representatives
12th Congressional District
Incumbent Summer Lee (D)
James Hayes (R)
All U.S House Districts are holding elections tomorrow Nov. 5. District 12 is included. In the 2022 midterms, this district went democratic as Summer Lee (D) beat Michael Doyle (R).
The margin of defeat for Doyle was 12.4% as he received 143,946 votes. Lee had 184,674 votes and won. The final number was 56.2 – 43.8
17th Congressional District
Incumbent Chris Deluzio (D)
Rob Mercuri (R)
Rob Mercuri and Chris Deluzio will be facing off for the District 17 representative seat. These candidates are both getting a lot of outside support from Washington as the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. These committees focus on “vulnerable districts” and this district seems to be important.

Nicole Ruscitto (D)
Incumbent Devlin Robinson (R)
The 37th Senatorial District will be a highly contested race as both candidates feel as if they could deliver to this district. Robinson, an RMU Alum looks to continue to serve his constituents and win reelection.
45th Senatorial District
Nick Pisciottano (D)
Jen Dintini (R)
Democratic incumbent James Brewster will not be running for reelection after serving the district for 14 years. The race looks like it could be close as there is no incumbent. This race seems to be wide open even though this district has been traditionally Democrat. Brewster won by 69 votes which is a miniscule margin. Nick Pisciottano will be squaring off against Jen Dintini for the 45th senatorial seat.

44th Legislative District

Incumbent Valerie Gaydos (R)
Incumbent Valerie Gaydos and Hadley Haas will go at it as they battle for the 44th Legislative District. This district covers some areas of the Ohio River Valley and the airport area suburbs. This area has been highly contested in the recent elections as it has been considered a battleground district.
45th Legislative District
Incumbent Anita Kulik (D)
James Julius (R)
Incumbent Anita Kulik (D) is being challenged by political newcomer James Julius (R). Julius is an RMU alum from Mckees Rocks and he is challenging the incumbent, Anita Kulik who has been in the position for seven years. Kulik looks to have the advantage over the newcomer as she has had the area’s vote for seven years.
Polls in Pennsylvania will be closing at 8 p.m., Nov 5.
