A teenage boy is recovering from a gunshot to the leg following a fight in the streets of Ross Township early Tuesday morning.
Ross Township police responded to a call of five teenage boys fighting on Sixth Street in the Laurel Gardens neighborhood just after midnight. The other four teens fled the scene, leaving the shot teen behind. Officers were able to help the injured teen.
“They found one of the (teens) was shot in the leg, so they rendered aid and put a tourniquet on that individual,” said Brian Kohlhepp, the deputy chief of Ross Township Police Department.
Kohlhepp said the police found the other four teenagers by 2 a.m., and they were taken into custody.
The injured teen was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Law enforcement did identify all the teenagers, who were all different ages. Police will not be releasing the teens’ names but did say they are not residents of Ross Township.
“All of the five people involved were juveniles, so we’re restricted in the information we can release,” said Kohlhepp. “None are residents of Ross Township.”
Officers are investigating why the teens were in Ross Township and deciding if any charges will be filed.
