Former Robert Morris volunteer hockey coach Kyle Dirks has been accused of sexually abusing two boys in Iowa.
He is facing two counts of sexual abuse of a child and four counts of second-degree sexual abuse in Woodbury County.
Both boys are juveniles in the Child Advocacy Center in Iowa. In a recent interview with the two boys, they claim the alleged events took place between 2017 and 2021 in Sioux City, Iowa, where Dirks lived at the time.
During the interviews, the affidavit states the children would go and ‘hang out’ with Dirks at his home, describing how they would play video games.
Dirks had served as a volunteer hockey goalie coach at RMU for the 2023-24 season.
RMU spokesperson Brian Edwards told Pittsburgh’s WTAE-TV that Dirks was “removed from his volunteer role with our men’s hockey program as soon as we learned of the criminal charges against him.”
The university has since removed his webpage from the sports homepage.
