Moon Area School District closed Wednesday due to extreme cold

MOON TOWNSHIP – School districts around the Pittsburgh region will be closed on Wednesday as a winter weather system carrying subzero arctic air moves through the region.

The Moon Area School District announced on Facebook Tuesday afternoon that they will not have classes as temperatures are expected to reach a low of -1 degree.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Wind Chill Advisory beginning early Wednesday morning and lasting throughout Thursday. Wind chills are expected to reach as low as -20 degrees.

Pittsburgh Public Schools have also canceled classes on Wednesday.
