Lincoln Heights residents are concerned after Neo-Nazis disrupted an I-75 overpass in Cincinnati, Ohio. Residents demanded responses from the police, who gave them unclear answers.
On Friday, Feb 11, about a dozen people stood on an overpass and waved flags with swastikas over traffic. The police were able to escort the group away and their U-Haul truck. As Lincoln Heights and Evendale police were responding to the scene, residents started to become concerned and began to ask questions.
The communities held two town meetings. One was held on the overpass where the incident took place, and the other was held in the town hall. At the town hall, Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey answered as many questions with what she was able to say about the situation.
McGuffey told the crowd, “When officers arrived they were standing there with a weapon strapped to them. It’s a weapon that can cause a lot of damage and kill people. They had to keep the residents from approaching those individuals, from being shot or shot at.”
The frustrated residents spoke out about how the Neo-Nazis did not get reprimanded. There was a statement put out by Evendale police that says the demonstration was offensive, but not unlawful or illegal.
Reporters have reached out to the police departments that responded to the scene, but have yet to receive a response.
