A 19-year-old man in Philadelphia is accused of pressuring a 13-year-old girl he met on Tiktok to travel across the state from Westmoreland County. Police said he sexually assaulted her multiple times.
According to a criminal complaint, Greensburg police received a call from a woman on March 14. She reported her 13-year-old daughter missing after finding a note from her stating that she ran away.
Her cellphone was tracked in Philadelphia by investigators. Philadelphia police officers found the victim and took her to the police station until her mother arrived.
Police officers back in Westmoreland County talked to the mother. She said her daughter may have met a man on social media who convinced her to travel across the state to Philadelphia. The mother was not sure how she would have made it there.
The mother called the police on her way back to Greensburg with the victim. She told the police how her daughter had been talking to a man named Angel Lopez, 19, on TikTok, according to a criminal complaint. The daughter was convinced by him to sneak out of her home and catch an Uber that Angel had arranged and paid for.
The 13-year-old victim was interviewed by authorities. She mentioned when she and Lopez started texting each other, he asked her to send explicit content, according to the police. The victim said that Angel “loves her.”
She told authorities that when she arrived at Lopez’s apartment, he made her turn off her cell phone and take several hits from a “weed pen,” the complaint says.
After that the victim said that Lopez sexually assaulted her, she described feeling extremely uncomfortable and disgusted according to the police. She also mentioned that she felt “weird” throughout the encounter.
The complaint then mentioned that the victim had told Lopez she wanted to leave the apartment. He started using “manipulation tactics” on her. He was hitting himself and saying he was a boxer. Lopez allegedly told the victim, “They won’t be able to find you anyway.”
The victim mentioned she started to fear for her safety at Lopez’s apartment, so she pulled out strands of her hair and left them in parts of the bedroom. She hoped her DNA would be found later, according to police.
The 13-year-old was eventually able to escape. She mentioned to police that there were times she had second thoughts about traveling to Philadelphia. Lopez told her if she didn’t come to see him, he would harm himself.
Lopez was taken into custody. He is facing many charges including trafficking in individuals, kidnapping of a minor, statutory sexual assault, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with someone under 16.
