Pittsburgh named in list of best cities to land a job in 2019

Pittsburgh was recently named as one of the best cities in the U.S. to land a job in 2019.

MOON TOWNSHIP – Pittsburgh was named in a report of the best cities to land a job in 2019, and the Steel City ranked rather high on the list.

The personal finance website WalletHub released its annual report on the best cities to find jobs this week. Cities were put head to head and measured on 30 key components that help WalletHub test each individual cities job market strength.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statics latest job report, it’s a rather good time to be on the market for a new job. WalletHub agrees with that notion and said in their report that the new year is often a time that people look for change.

“Whether that means small changes or a complete life overhaul. For many people, finding a new or better job will be a top resolution.”

Good news for those graduating from college, firms plan to hire 16.2 percent more members form the Class fo 2019 than the previous graduating class.

WalletHub compiled a list of the top 180 cities in the nation and presented the data on Friday.

The top five cities to land a job in the U.S. are:

  1. Scottsdale, Arizona
  2. Columbia, Maryland
  3. Orland, Florida
  4. San Francisco, California
  5. Colorado Springs, Colorado

Pittsburgh landed rounded out the top 15 cities in the country as the steel city came in the 15th spot. In the socio-economics category, Pittsburgh was ranked second, only being beatout by Burlington, Vermont. The socio-economic category measures cities on factors like annual income, average work and commute time, dating friendliness, housing affordability, transportation costs and more.

The five worst cities to land a job in 2019 are:

  2. Las Cruces, New Mexico
  3. Newark, New Jersey
  4. Toledo, Ohio
  5. Shreveport, Louisiana
