The dish machine at the PNC Food Court remains broken. It has been about a month since the infamous blue conveyor belt has been non-operational. The temporary fix for the dish machine has been four sets of trash cans to dump food and trash in and bins to place silverware and dinnerware in.
The dishwasher has been known to break down, but usually, it is resolved within a week. Sometimes they use plastic plates and bowls to handle an occasional breakdown, but since it has been dragging on for a while, Parkhurst has no choice but to use their normal dinnerware.
A temporary sign has been put in place informing students about the broken dish machine. This is led to believe that it may be a bit longer before a solution is found.
Junior Trey Reichenfeld has this to say about the broken dish machine, “They [Parkhurst] are making it harder upon themselves with them having to wheel all of the plates and stuff back to the kitchen instead of them being sent back there automatically. In terms of convenience [for us], it doesn’t make that much of a difference.”
It is likely that Parkhurst has been unable to get someone in to fix the dish machine, but usually, when people come in to fix it, it is fixed within a week. Students are also known to complain about the smell of the dish machine. Students also hope that a solution will be found soon.
