Police Blotter 10/13/15-10/20/15

10/13/15 – Trouble Alarm – Guardian reported a low battery signal coming from the alarm system in Hale Center.  Maintenance was advised of the alarm call. (Closed)

10/13/15 – Lost Property – A student reported losing their wallet.  A report was taken and the student will be notified if the wallet is turned into this department. (Closed)

10/13/15 – Trouble Alarm – Guardian reported a low battery signal coming from the alarm system in Hale Center.  Maintenance was advised of the alarm call. (Closed)

10/13/15 – Lost Property – A backpack was turned into this department, which was found near the Nicholson Center.  The backpack will be kept at the Police Department until the owner retrieves. (Closed)

10/14/15 – Suspicious Person – This department is investigating an incident that occurred at the Island Sports Center in reference to an employee.  The information was obtained and turned over to the department head for discipline. (Closed)

10/14/15 – Theft – A student reported attempting to purchase an item from an unknown person through Instagram.  All pertinent information was obtained and an investigation is underway at this time. (Open)

10/14/15 – Found Property – A Freedom Card was turned into this department; the owner was contacted and advised to pick up their card. (Closed)

10/15/15 – False Alarm – This department was advised of a fire alarm activated at the Facilities Building.  Officers responded and met with maintenance personnel who advised they are working on the issue, no further assistance needed from this department at this time. (Closed)

10/15/15 – Welfare Check – A professor requested this department check on a student who was unhappy after meeting with them.  This department checked on the student and found that everything was fine. (Closed)

10/15/15 – Smell of Marijuana – Residence Life requested officers at Yorktown Hall for a smell of marijuana.  Officers located the room in question and conducted a search.  The search concluded with finding suspected marijuana, and paraphernalia. The student was charged with disorderly conduct, and sent through Judicial Affairs. (Closed)

10/15/15 – Student Conduct – Residence Life requested assistance in locating someone removing artwork from outside a door in Salem Hall.  The cameras were reviewed and a male was found removing the artwork.  Residence Life will handle disciplinary actions involved in this case. (Closed)

10/16/15 – Smell of Marijuana – While patrolling Patrick Henry Center officers could detect an odor of marijuana coming from four individuals sitting at a study table.  The individuals, (one student and three guests) were questioned and found to be in possession of marijuana.  This incident will be sent through Judicial Affairs for actions. (Closed)

10/16/15 – Disturbance – This department was advised of people being loud outside of Concord Hall.  Officers responded and met with a small group of people, and advised them to keep the noise down. (Closed)

10/16/15 – Accident – This department was advised of an accident on Washington Way.  Officers responded and took all necessary information, and a report was written for insurance purposes. (Closed)

10/17/15 – Fire Alarm – Guardian reported a late test activation for the Snee-Reindhardt House.    Maintenance was notified of the alarm activation. (Closed)

10/18/15 – Trouble Alarm – Guardian reported a trouble alarm activated at the Alumni House.  Officers responded along with maintenance and reset the alarm system. (Closed)

10/18/15 – Departmental Information – This department received a call for a male at the Police Station requesting officers to reset their finger that was injured playing football.  Officers advised that they are not able to perform the task and would contact Valley Ambulance for assistance.  The male refused treatment by ambulance, and advised he will seek attention off campus. (Closed)

10/18/15 – Suspicious Person – Residence Life reported a suspicious person inside Monroe Hall.  Officers responded immediately and reviewed the cameras for that location.  Negative results were met after checking the building and the cameras for the description given to this department. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Missing Property – A student reported their black bag missing from Yorktown Hall.  The description of the items and time frame were given, and an investigation is underway at this time. (Open)

10/19/15 – Found Property – A piece of jewelry was turned into this department that was found in the Sewall Center arena.  The item was taken and entered into lost and found until claimed by the owner. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Traffic Stop – An officer conducted a traffic stop on Campus Drive for a vehicle with expired registration.  Upon further investigation, Moon Twp. Police wanted the driver for a warrant.  Moon PD was notified and took the driver into custody.  This department issued one citation for the expired registration. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Disorderly Conduct – Residence Life reported an odor of marijuana in Ross Hall.  Officers responded and found the location for the odor, and found a small amount of marijuana.  The student involved received a citation for disorderly conduct, as well as going through Judicial Affairs. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Suspicious Incident – Residence Life reported finding a student in possession of a stop sign.  This department, until determined where it originated confiscated the sign. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Departmental Information – An employee reported losing their University issued keys.  A report was issued and forwarded to the University locksmith for replacements. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Disturbance – Officers were called to Romo’s Café for an employee conflict.  Officers were able to separate both parties and have one-half leave for the night.  Parkhurst will handle any disciplinary actions towards the employees. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Suspicious Vehicle – Officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the lower lot of Yorktown Hall.  Upon approaching the vehicle, officers could detect an odor of marijuana.  The driver (non-student) was issued a citation, and a trespass warning, the passenger (student) was advised they will be handled through Judicial Affairs and both were released. 10/19/15 – Traffic Stop – An officer conducted a traffic stop on Pennsylvania Avenue for a stop sign violation.  The driver received a written warning for the violation. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Departmental Information – Officers conducted a traffic safety check on Pennsylvania Avenue, and Colonial Way, with no violations. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Fire Alarm – Guardian reported a fire alarm activated in Concord Hall.  Upon officers arrival it was determined that burnt food was the cause.  Maintenance was notified and reset the alarm system. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Traffic Stop – An officer conducted a traffic stop on Campus Drive for a stop sign violation.  The driver was issued a written warning for the violation. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Trouble Alarm – Guardian reported a trouble alarm activated in the Alumni House.  Officers responded and found the system reading normal.  Maintenance was notified and advised of the alarm activation. (Closed)

10/19/15 – Suspicious Person – An officer encountered two males in a vehicle in the Sewall Parking lot.  Both males (non-students) were found to be in possession of marijuana, paraphernalia, and under the influence of alcohol, and will be charged accordingly. (Closed)

10/20/15 – Fire Alarm – Guardian reported a fire alarm activated in Braddock Hall.  Upon officers arrival it was determined that the cause was burnt food.  Maintenance was advised and reset the alarm system. (Closed)

10/20/15 – Trespass Warning – Officers were advised of a male on campus that was on the PNG list.  Officers made contact with the male and advised them that they are not permitted on campus.  The male was escorted to his vehicle and left campus without incident. (Closed)

10/20/15 – Lost Property – A wallet was turned into the department that was found in the Nicholson Center.  Officers were unable to find any contact information for the owner, and the item was entered into lost and found at the Police Department. (Closed)

10/20/15 – Fire Alarm – Maintenance reported a smoke alarm activated in Salem Hall.  Officer responded maintenance responded finding that the residents burnt food.  Maintenance reset the alarm system. (Closed)

10/20/15 – Student Conduct – This department is investigating someone tampering with a computer in a Hale Center classroom.  The cameras were reviewed and a suspect has been   located.  This incident is still under investigation at this time. (Open)

10/20/15 – Guardian reported a failure to send signal from the alumni house.  Maintenance was notified of system activation. (Closed)
