Departmental Information: Student reported falling victim to an online blackmail scam. The student was advised to stop communication with the blackmailer. The case is closed.

2/21/2023

Trouble Alarm: Guardian Protection reported a fire alarm activation in Hale Center. Officers responded and found the cause to be a water flow sensor. RMU Maintenance was notified. Fire department was canceled. The panel was reset. This case is closed.

Departmental Information: RMU Police were advised of an unwanted person on campus. Officers located the individual and asked them to leave. They left without incident. The case is closed.

Fire Alarm-Smoke Detector Activated: Guardian Protection reported a fire alarm activation in Lexington Hall. Officers responded and found the cause to be students cooking cauliflower bites. RMU Maintenance was notified. Fire department was canceled. The panel was reset. This case is closed.

Departmental Information: RMU Island Sports Center Public Safety Officer was notified of a possible theft in the Pro Shop. RMU Detectives are reviewing the cameras. The case is closed.

Departmental Information: RMU Police issued a Trespass Warning. This case is closed.

Theft by Unlawful Taking: Parkhurst manager reported two students shoplifting from Romo’s Café. RMU Police were able to identify students. They paid for the items they stole. Two students will be sent through Student Conduct. The case is closed.
