NEW YORK – New York-based rapper and record executive Sean Combs – a.k.a. P Diddy – was arrested in Manhattan on September 16th and booked on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. He is currently being held without bail.
This comes after numerous civil lawsuits were filed within the last year against Diddy for a range of sexual crimes. The first bombshell was filed on Nov 18, 2023, by Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie. The allegations included claims of sexual abuse and misconduct, one instance of rape, and the claim that Diddy bombed fellow rapper Kid Cudi’s car after he and Cassie allegedly had an affair.
Diddy and his lawyers denied the claims but settled with Cassie’s legal team less than 24 hours after the lawsuit was filed.
A week later on Nov 23, two more lawsuits were filed. One was filed anonymously and the other by Joi Dickenson-Neal, who attended parties hosted by Diddy – called “Freak Offs” by those close to him – in the early 1990s when she was a college student. According to the lawsuit, Diddy had separate cups for his friends and female guests, the latter of which were drugged with date rape drugs. Dickinson-Neal consumed some of these drinks, went to Diddy’s studio with him, and was allegedly assaulted by him.
Dickinson-Neal claims that these acts were recorded and distributed to members of Diddy’s entourage.
In December 2023, another lawsuit was filed, this time by Jane Doe alleging that Diddy and other members of his entourage gang raped and beat her. At the time of the assaults, this Jane Doe would have been only 17 years old. After this information came out, Diddy went on various social media rants claiming that these lawsuits were attempts to “assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.”
These are just a few of the many allegations against Diddy from people across all walks of life. Diddy has also been accused of other counts of rape, sex trafficking, solicitation, drugging, sexual and physical assault, attempted murder, pedophilia, and kidnapping among others.
After his arrest, Diddy’s defense stated he would “cooperate” with strict house arrest and pay upwards of 50 million dollars to be released on bail. The judge denied the offer, due in part to a 16-page letter written by federal prosecutors in favor of keeping Diddy locked up.
Diddy faces life in prison, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Oct 9th in New York City.
