Information was released on Friday, February 3 that an independent speed-skating coach was banned from Robert Morris University facilities. The ban was a result of “allegations of improper behavior,” according to the press release.
The release stated the independent speed-skating coach trained members of the RMU speed-skating team at the Island Sports Center as well as other athletes from varying parts of the world.
Officials from RMU have agreed to cooperate with a formal investigation and have also decided to terminate the speed-skating club program due to the current allegations. The club had one active member, as of this week.
RMU President Gregory G. Dell’Omo said he believed the decision to eliminate the speed-skating program was necessary because of the allegations against the speed-skating coach, according to the press release.
