Robert Morris University Realigns Student Life

Dr. John Locke was one of the members of student life that was realigned on Wednesday.

Robert Morris President, Dr. Michelle Patrick, announced the realignment of Student Life today after former Dean of Students, Dr. John Michalenko retired at the end of the fall semester.

In an email sent out to the faculty of Robert Morris University, President Patrick has stated that there will be realignment of Student Life. Patrick explained that she has decided to realign elements of Student Life to remain focused on the student experience.

The motion will be immediate as Dr. John Locke will become the Chief Experience Officer and report directly to the President.

Locke is a Robert Morris alum and has worked at the university for nearly 20 years. President Patrick, discussed Locke’s new role and said,

“Dr. Locke will provide creative and strategic leadership aimed at improving, enhancing, and unifying the overall RMU Experience. He will ensure that the student experience is reflected in the RMU Way which includes major university events such as Student Orientation, Matriculation, Homecoming, and Commencement.”

Locke will also focus on creating an engaging environment within the community and telling the story of the university.

The new Chief Experience Officer will continue to oversee student activities, the theater program, and the university band.

Maureen Keefer was also named the Dean of Students. Given her leadership for over 25 years at Robert Morris, her dedication to keeping the campus safe and healthy has led her to this success.

She will oversee the student governance and services that support students’ academic and personal success. Keefer will also handle the Student Conduct, the Center for Student Success, Greek Life, the Office of Residence Life, the Counseling Center, the UPMC MyHealth@School Center, and will advise the Student Government Association.

Robert Morris University looks forward at advancing the roles of these individuals after their endless dedication to the university for the past two decades.
