Mitt Romney emerged victorious in Tuesday’s GOP Florida primary, winning 46.6 percent of the votes cast. Newt Gingrich was second (31.9%), Rick Santorum third (13.3%), and Ron Paul finished in fourth place (7%). With this victory and his victory in the New Hampshire caucus, Romney emerged as the frontrunner despite previous losses in South Carolina and Iowa. Exit polls determined that voters are now looking for the candidate who is most likely to beat President Obama in the 2012 Presidential Race. Florida Republicans revealed that their voting preference was determined by the recent debates and ad campaigns of the candidates. As the race continues, GOP candidates next look to Saturday’s Nevada caucus, where 28 delegates are at stake.
