Back to the 20s for a night

Friday October 25, 2013

We kicked off the PRSSA National Conference with The Ivy Lee Club Opening Night Celebration! We arrived at 8 p.m. and danced the night away. They served Philly cheesesteaks, pretzels from the famous Philly Pretzel Factory, and handed out fedoras and boas! Many of our fellow conference attendees even went all out and dressed up as flappers and mobsters. We met a lot of awesome people whom we made our first business card exchange with!

One person in particular that stood out to me was a guy named Luke Crawford. He is a student at the Columbia College Chicago and a member of the PRSSA chapter there. Luke was a lot of fun and clicked with our group right away. Their chapter is holding a two-day Regional Conference (March 7-8, 2014) called The Loop in Chicago, Illinois. The conference will touch base on four components of PR in Chicago: traditional, digital, lifestyle, and new/interactive media. These four components together create the 360° approach to PR, their slogan for the conference. The Loop sounds like a great learning experience and will provide countless opportunities. For more information on the regional conference, connect with The Loop at www.facebook.com/TheLoopChicago, @TheLoopRC, or www.theloopchicago.com.

We had a great time dancing the Charleston, grubbing on some traditional Philly food, and getting to know the people we will spend the next four days with. This Conference will be a great opportunity and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us!
