Former Colonial Amarion Dickerson will be taking his final year of NCAA eligibility to Los Angeles to join the USC Trojans.
He announced his decision on his Instagram account on Apr. 5.
Dickerson, who will be entering his senior season, began his college career at Mineral Area College, a National Junior Collegiate school, before transferring to RMU for his junior year.
The Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year averaged 13.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists along with one steal and 2.3 blocks per game last season.
Dickerson ranked eighth in the country with 82 blocks on the season, and set a RMU program record with blocks in a game twice, with seven on Nov 14 against Stonehill, and broke his own record with eight on Feb. 5 against Detroit Mercy.
Dickerson’s true breakout came in RMU’s March Madness game vs. Alabama, where he put up 25 points,11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a hard-fought loss to the 2-seeded Crimson Tide.
Dickerson then announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on March 24, and garnered attention from Kansas State, Louisville and Clemson before deciding to join the Trojans.
The Colonials roster will look entirely different next season, as all nine rotational players from the 2024-25 season, as well as several young prospects on the roster, have entered the portal or graduated. Other players such as Alvaro Folgueiras and Josh Omojafo have received interest from Power-4 conference schools.
Amarion Dickerson will join Desmond Claude, Wesley Yates III and Coach Eric Musselman at USC, and will bring his energy and defensive presence to a team looking to make noise in the Big 10 moving forward.
