Male Athlete:
Velton Jones led the men’s basketball team to a 1-1 record this past weekend by leading the team in both points and rebounds. In a battle of the 2011 NEC Championship against Long Island University, Robert Morris came out with a 75-66 victory, with Jones leading the way with 23 points. He lead the team in rebounds with six. During Saturday’s game, Jones also scored 23 points while playing 32 of 40 minutes.
Female Athlete:
Artemis Spanou had her 11th double-double in the women’s basketball game against Fairleigh Dickinson with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Spanou backed that performance with her 12th double-double and seventh consecutive on Saturday in a 21 point, 12 rebound performance again St. Francis (NY). On Monday, she had nine points and 13 rebounds against LIU. The Colonials went 2-1 in this stretch of games.
