The Atlantic Hockey Board of Directors voted to reinstate the Robert Morris men’s hockey program as a full member effective immediately, Mike McMahon of College Hockey News announced via Twitter on Thursday.

The process to bring hockey back to RMU began in December when the RMU Board of Trustees agreed to reinstate both men’s and women’s hockey. After the board reinstated the team, RMU had to apply for readmittance to Atlantic Hockey for the men’s program. As for the women’s program, they were reinstated into College Hockey America this past month.

Robert Morris hockey will return for the 2023-2024 season and both Derek Schooley and Logan Bittle are looking to return both programs to their prior form.

Schooley will be returning as the only head coach the men’s program has ever seen. He signed his five-year contract through the 2026-2027 season back in February. Schooley will look to bring back the winning culture that RMU’s hockey program has had previous to the cancellation of the program.
