On Monday, RMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Chris King announced the resignation of head coach Charlie Buscaglia from the RMU women’s basketball program.
Associate head coach Scott Schneider will serve as the acting head coach for the remainder of the season.
“We thank Charlie for his efforts on behalf of RMU women’s basketball,” Chris King said. “We wish him well personally and professionally moving forward.”
Before being head coach, he was an assistant coach beginning in 2003 under his father, Sal Buscaglia.
Charlie Buscaglia led the program for eight seasons, with an overall record of 126-102. He led the team to two NCAA Tournament berths in 2017 and 2019 and either won or shared an NEC Regular season title between 2016-2020.
Since moving to the Horizon League in 2020, Buscaglia has not found much success, leaving the program with a 22-51 record in-conference and a 2-13 record this season, sitting in last place. The Colonials are in the middle of a 12-game losing streak.
Scott Schneider is in his third season as associate head coach and 14th season overall with the Robert Morris women’s basketball team this year. He was an assistant coach for seven seasons, a student assistant from 2009-11, and a graduate assistant from 2012-14.
The national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
