It appears as though the Bernard Clark era of Robert Morris football will bring a brand new look to this football team from the entire coaching staff as three more coaches departed from the team.

Linebackers coach Alex Dimichele, defensive line coach Cornelius Coleman and tight ends coach Kevin Sonnie have all mentioned their departures in their personal Twitter accounts.

Robert Morris athletic director Dr. Craig Coleman has confirmed these departures.

“As is often the case in athletics, a new head coach prefers to bring on board his own set of assistant coaches. We certainly thank those coaches who will be leaving the program for their years of hard work and service to RMU and wish them the greatest success in their future endeavors,” said Coleman in an email to RMU Sentry Media.

Coach Dimichele was a former player under recently departed defensive coordinator Scott Farison before being brought on to the staff by Farison in 2012. Since then, Dimichele has been a coach for the Colonials in five different seasons, becoming an assistant coach for Kentucky Christian University briefly for the 2015 season before returning to RMU.

Dimichele sent out a tweet January 3, saying “It’s been a good run @RMU…10 years as a student-athlete/coach!”

Coach Coleman also leaves Robert Morris with a plethora of experience not just from the Colonials. Besides being the defensive line coach and an academic advisor for RMU since 2014, Coleman also spent the preseason of the 2017 NFL season as part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Pittsburgh Steelers. There, Coleman got to coach alongside many championship caliber coaches from one of the most successful football franchises in the NFL.

Coleman tweeted out on January 2, “I wish @RMUFootball nothing but the best moving forward.”

Coach Sonnie was one of the team’s newest coaches, joining the team during March of 2017. Before RMU, Sonnie was the wide receivers coach and video coordinator at Gannon University in Erie, PA.

Sonnie tweeted out on January 2, “Thank you very much to the @RMU family for this past year.”
