MOON TOWNSHIP– The Robert Morris Colonials took on Air Force in the semifinals of the ASUN championship. The Colonial’s efforts fell short as they fell to Air Force by a score of 12-4.

The Colonials could not get anything going offensively as the turnovers just ate them up early and Air Force was able to counter those turnovers. Over all the defence for RMU played well in the first half with Nate Randall collecting ten saves.

Craig McDonald discussed his thoughts on the game.

“Today was just not the result we wanted we just didn’t execute the way we wanted to and it showed but we hustled and never gave up today,” said McDonald.

The Colonials only trailed 6-2 at the end of the first half but were completely shut down in the second half. Again turnovers plagued the Robert Morris offense and the ball was mainly in the defensive end for the entirety of the second half.

It seemed that the Colonials just were not in sync today as it looked like nothing was working for them and they were just flat-footed. It almost looks like Air Force just had an extra pep in their step over the Colonials.

Air Force goaltender Justin Rose played out of his mind making almost twenty saves in this game against RMU. He was a brick wall for Air Force and the Colonials could not chip away at the wall that was Justin Rose.

While it may seem like an end to a season it was a season that the Colonials faced a lot of adversity.

“We went through a lot of adversity and the guys stuck together,” McDonald said. “It’s a great group and I am gonna miss those seniors that are great people, great leaders, great teammates…just go in and reflect and put our arm around our guys and tell them that we are gonna be alright”.

The Colonials battled through a lot of injuries and a couple of tough losses but managed to make it to the semifinals of the ASUN tournament and that should be looked at as a success.

For the Colonials, this season at the beginning there were questions of are they going to make the tournament they are hosting to making to the semifinals of the ASUN Tournament is undoubtedly a huge success and they will look to rebound next season and retool to make another run.

The Colonials future indeed looks bright as they have some incredible young talent that will be here and will fill the holes of the players that are leaving this season. The Colonials will be back next season with a chip on their shoulder.
