The Robert Morris women’s volleyball team faced a familiar foe on Saturday when Central Connecticut State came to the Sewall Center with the conference playoffs not far away. RMU won a five-set thriller in New Britain back on October 4th, and they were ready for round two.

After a first set loss to the opposition that featured 15 ties and eight lead changes, the Colonials won the next three sets in succession to complete the sweep 3-1.

“I was really disappointed in how we came out in that first set,” said head coach Dale Starr. “We weren’t being aggressive. To [the team’s] credit, they found a way though.”

Senior Erica Robb helped lead her team to a win Saturday with help from sophomore Arden Fischer, who also posted a double-double.

“Central Connecticut is a very good team who is looking for a playoff bid and they knew they needed a win today to help that,” Robb said. “They were very prepared and played a good match, we had to play a solid game to beat them.”

Robb had 13 kills in a conference match against a team who is quickly becoming a big rival to the Colonials.

“I think we owed them some payback for last year,” she said.

Robert Morris will be back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. in an attempt to improve  to a 10-1 NEC record against Bryant.
