LEXINGTON, Ky.– On Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Robert Morris would take on Kentucky on November 12 for the first time since 2013. This morning, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported that Kentucky will headline a multi-team event that will include the Colonials as well.

Other teams competing include Mount St. Mary’s and Ohio, who are both coming off NCAA tournament runs.

The Colonials’ former NEC foe Mount St. Mary’s finished with a 12-11 overall record and a 9-7 record in NEC play, knocking off top-seeded Bryant 73-68 in the NEC championship game. The Mountaineers’ NCAA tournament run came to a close in the First Four, dropping their game to Texas Southern by a score of 60-52.

As for the Bobcats, they finished with a 17-8 overall record and a 9-5 record in MACtion. In the NCAA tournament, Ohio upset fourth-seeded Virginia 62-58 in the first round of the tournament, but then fell to Creighton in the second round 72-58.

Kentucky struggled mightily last season, starting the campaign off with a 1-6 record and finishing 9-16 overall and 8-9 in SEC play. The Wildcats missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013, the same season Robert Morris knocked off the top-seeded Wildcats in the NIT.

Even though Robert Morris struggled last year in their first season of the Horizon League, Andy Toole and his staff have reloaded and bolstered their roster, adding size in the likes of Brandon Stone and Justin Winston to name a few, as well as some strong veteran presences in Rasheem Dunn, Ferron Flavors Jr., and Jaron Williams.

As of now, according to the D1 Docket, Robert Morris will face Kentucky on November 12 and Mount St. Mary’s on November 19. The date of the game against the University of Ohio has yet to be confirmed.
