D’Andre Hicks will look to land at his fourth school in his collegiate career as he hits the portal after the NCAA approved his transfer waiver.

Hicks will enter his seventh year of college.

The 5-foot-11 wide receiver spent three years at Robert Morris as he became a go-to weapon for George Martin and the Colonials in 2021.

During that season, Hicks hauled in a team-high 38 receptions and also led the Colonials with five receiving touchdowns. Hicks totaled 362 receiving yards while averaging 9.5 yards per catch during his redshirt senior campaign.

In his first season with the Colonials, he played in all three games of the pandemic-impacted spring season as he caught 19 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

This past fall, the graduate senior only appeared in three games while bringing in five catches for 37 yards on a season that saw the Colonials finish winless. Hicks’ season would be cut short due to a hamstring injury, which would eventually allow him to be eligible for one extra year thanks to a medical waiver.

“Getting hurt in the season opener and having to sit the rest of the year was tough on me,” Hicks told Colonial Sports Network. “Watching my teammates play without me knowing there was nothing I could do hurt me deeply. I’m forever thankful for the players I’ll keep as friends forever.”

Hicks now hits the portal one final time after spending three seasons with the Colonials.

“I am grateful for my time in Moon Township. RMU will forever be a part of my story,” Hicks said.

After officially hitting the portal, Hicks has already drawn interest from some teams at every level, including some NAIA schools from Florida. UNC Pembroke and West Liberty at the Division II level have already offered Hicks.

With a diverse skill set that has seen him play wide receiver and running back along with returning kickoffs and punts, Hicks feels that he can be a valuable asset to any team.

“Any team that is looking at me has to understand how versatile I am,” Hicks said. “I can play any skill position on the field when healthy. Being that I’m fully healthy now, my speed is back. My weight is up and I’m ready to compete at a high level.”

“My next team will be getting a vet that is ready to win ballgames,” he added. “I’m excited to get back on the field and find a new home.”

Prior to his time at Robert Morris, the Punta Gorda Fla. native began his collegiate career at Appalachian State. As a running back, Hicks redshirted his first season and then in 2018, he had 24 rushing attempts for 185 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown run against Gardner-Webb.

Hicks would then transfer to McNeese State for one season as he appeared in 10 games while totaling 78 yards on the ground before ultimately transferring to Robert Morris.
