For the second week in a row, RMU women’s hockey has garnered AHA Weekly Awards.
After sweeping Bemidji State last weekend, the Colonials have found themselves with a record of 3-1-0 overall through two weeks of the season. While they keep winning on the ice, they keep raking in the awards.
Last week, Thalia D’Elia won AHA Defenseman of the Week, and for the second consecutive week, she’s done it again.
The sophomore scored the game-winning goal in overtime against the Beavers Saturday afternoon and an assist Friday to earn her a second career weekly award.
D’Elia is second in the conference in points with five.
Helping her out on defense has been redshirt sophomore goalie Maggie Hatch. Hatch earns her second career weekly honor after posting a 46-shutout Friday night and 27 saves in the overtime win Saturday.
Hatch made the AHA All-Rookie team last season and it’s safe to say Hatch is continuing her strong form.
The Colonials will be in New York for their next series against Clarkson University on Friday, Oct 11 and Saturday, Octb12. Puck drop is slated for 3 p.m. Friday at Cheel Arena.
