#FormerColonialWatch: Aneta Ledlova, Czech women’s hockey team qualify for Olympics

CHOMUTOV, Czech Republic– Following a 5-1 win over Hungary, former Robert Morris women’s hockey player Aneta Ledlova and the rest of the Czech Republic women’s hockey team has qualified for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Ledlova played two seasons with the Colonials (2016-18), in which she skated in 54 games, scoring seven goals and 11 assists. Ledlova was also named CHA Rookie of the Week on October 31, 2016, a week in which she scored a goal and two assists as the Colonials swept I-79 rival Mercyhurst.
Following her two seasons with the Colonials, the Kadan, Czech Republic native signed with AIK of the Swedish Women’s Hockey League (SDHL).
In Sweden, Ledlova posted 19 points (11 G, 8 A) in 36 games played. After that, Ledlova returned to the Czech Republic, playing for HC Pribram, totaling 29 points in her three seasons.
This will not mark Ledlova’s first time wearing the sweater of the Czech national team, as she has skated in 123 career international events, tallying 35 goals and 38 assists.
Ledlova led the Czechs to the 2014 IIHF Women’s Ice Hockey World Championships, where she led the team in assists (11) and points (18).
In this year’s qualifiers, Ledlova had two goals and an assist in three games played; as the Czechs won all three games to qualify for the Olympics.
In China, the Czechs will be members of the “B” group, consisting of Japan, Sweden, Denmark, and China. This marks the first-ever Olympic qualification of the Czech Republic’s women’s team.
