A spectacular regular season for Men’s Soccer has rightly seen five players make the list of Horizon League honors. Josh Lane, Chase Gilley, John Paul Mbuthia, Anass Hadran, and Fabian Overkamp all were recognized for their efforts.
Chase Gilley, a graduate who’s had his best statistical season this year, earned a spot on the All-League First Team. Gilley leads the team in goals, scoring six times this year for RMU, and has also garnered four assists.
His attacking partner, John Paul Mbuthia made the All-League Second Team. The senior is second, behind Gilley, in goals with 5. He also provided an assist.
Joining Mbuthia on the second team are keeper Josh Lane and defender Fabian Overkamp. The defensive duo has kept four clean sheets for the Colonials this year, 2nd most in the Horizon League. Overkamp also has one goal this season.
Finally, Anass Hadran also picked up a spot on the All-League Third Team. The midfielder has 4 goals this season, and leads the team in assists with six. This is Hadran’s second award during his time in RMU, having garnered a spot on the Horizon League second team last year.
The Colonial’s second season under Head Coach Jonathan Potter has been hugely successful so far. The team missed the playoffs last year, but have no earned the No. 2 seed in this year’s tournament.
They will face No. 3 Milwaukee in the Horizon League semi-finals on Thursday, November 14. The game will be streamed on ESPN + with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
