Coming off a convincing homecoming victory over Lynchburg, the Robert Morris Colonials look to win back-to-back games to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule with a matchup against the Howard Bison.
RMU will welcome the Bison to Joe Walton Stadium for the second time in their history. The last visit from Howard came in 2021 when the Colonials came out victorious by a score of 22-16.
Coming off of an offensive outpour against Lynchburg, where RMU scored 28 straight points in the first quarter and for the game accumulated 535 yards of total offense, the Colonials are looking to keep the offensive momentum rolling.
Only playing the first half, quarterback Anthony Chiccitt finished 11-for-16, passing for 242 yards and throwing four touchdowns. One of those touchdowns occurred on the game’s first play with a 60-yard pass.
Chiccitt currently ranks 10th in the FCS in completion percentage at 70%. Along with completion percentage, Chiccitt also ranks third in passing touchdowns with 10 on the season and in the top 10 in passing efficiency.
Along with the success of quarterback Anthony Chiccitt, wide receiver Noah Robinson caught six passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Robinson is second in the country with 417 yards and is also tied for second with four receiving touchdowns, two behind the leader.
“The greatest thing about Noah is his leadership,” Clark said. “It’s not so much what he does on Saturday but throughout the week. Noah practices how he plays which leads to him having success on the weekend.”
Having a dual-threat offense where you can have a variety of pass plays and rushing plays is very important. Last week, RMU put up 212 rushing yards, a vast improvement over the last few weeks.
“The thing you want to have is a great running game. [If] you don’t have that running game, it’s hard to get the passing game going,” Clark said.” We have a committee right now, but we want to find that one guy. It is important to always have a running game in order to get your passing game going.”
The Colonials got more receivers and tight ends involved with seven players catching a pass last Saturday. Coach Clark was able to speak on how good it is to be able to spread the ball around.
“We have to find more guys other than Noah [Robinson]. Seven different receivers is positive thing for us as a team because you are getting more guys involved, and now, when teams are watching us, they see more weapons.”
Robert Morris will be back in action to end non-conference play versus Howard Saturday, Sep. 30 with kickoff set for Noon at Joe Walton Stadium.
