After the early conclusion of the 2021 spring football season due to limited student-athlete availability within the program, Robert Morris officially enters the offseason.

One effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, despite the cancellation of games, has been the influx of transfers in collegiate athletics due to the NCAA granting athletes an extra year of eligibility.

Wide receiver Garrett Houser has entered his name into this category, announcing his decision on Twitter Tuesday night.

The redshirt sophomore appeared in one of the Colonials’ three games this season, catching two passes for 12 yards in RMU’s season-opening loss in Harrisonburg, Virginia against James Madison.

Houser performed well in his redshirt freshman season in 2019, capturing 17 receptions for 334 yards and five touchdowns including a 79-yard score against Sacred Heart.

The Akron, Ohio native joined the Colonials from Archbishop Hoban High School, and he has three years of eligibility remaining to continue his career elsewhere.

Robert Morris finished the 2021 spring season 0-3 and 0-2 in their first year in the Big South, with losses to James Madison, Kennesaw State, and Charleston Southern. RMU’s matchup with Monmouth was rescheduled on multiple occasions, but the former NEC opponents never faced off this season.
