PITTSBURGH– Former RMU football standout, Marcelis Branch, was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this afternoon as first reported by Ian Rapoport.

Branch was a member of the Falcons practice squad in 2017 and he was then signed to a reserve/future contract with the team in 2018. After the Falcons waived Branch, he found himself without a team until the Steelers signed him in late January of this year, also to a reserve/future contract.

The Steelers utilized Branch this preseason by playing him in three games, where he was able to record seven tackles. Perhaps the highlight of his preseason was when Branch recorded an interception last night in what would be his final game with the Steelers. His interception included a 15-yard return that put Pittsburgh in Carolina’s half of the field.

Branch is currently in the top 10 for all-time tackles at Robert Morris, he also started in 42 games as a Colonial.
