Wheeling, W. Va.– On Tuesday afternoon, the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers announced via Twitter that they had signed men’s hockey goaltender Dyllan Lubbesmeyer for the remainder of the 2021 season.
We have a couple of new players joining us, as we make our way down to Florida this week.
We have acquired defenseman Jesse Lees from South Carolina for future considerations.

During his four-year career at RMU, he appeared in 22 games, earning a 5-4-1 career record along with a .915 SV% and 2.57 GAA. The Burnsville, Minnesota native recorded a 5-2 record during his senior season. His best single-game save performance came during his junior season, where he turned aside a career-high 42 shots against Army on 12/15/19.
Lubbesmeyer was nominated for the 2021 Hockey Humanitarian Award in recognition for his hard work not only on the ice but in the classroom, as well as his dedication to volunteer work on campus and in the community.
He will be joining former teammate Luke Lynch who signed with the Nailers in July. Lubbesmeyer marks the ninth program alum to join the Nailers, the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Lubbesmeyer will join the Nailers as they travel South to Florida to face off against the Florida Everblades this weekend.
