NEVILLE TOWNSHIP- Coming off of a victory in the shootout against Holy Cross, the Colonials faced off against the Bentley Falcons at Clearview Arena. The Colonials are looking to keep up their momentum after last week’s remarkable comeback.

They did just that again, coming back and winning 4-3

Cameron Hebert opened up the scoring for the Colonials after taking advantage of a Bently turnover. The Colonials scored early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. A tripping call came late, which put the Colonials on the Power Play with less than five minutes remaining. The Falcons eventually killed off the penalty.

The rest of the first period was a back-and-forth battle through the neutral zone as each team attacked the net. The Colonials were the only team to get a goal during the first period. Shots were even at 18 between both teams at the end of the period, but the Colonials got the one that mattered, which resulted in a goal.

The second period started slow for both sides. However, four minutes into the period, Bentley went onto the power plate after RMU committed a penalty. The Colonials killed off the penalty after a great penalty kill. Colonials goalie Chad Veltri had tremendous saves to keep the Colonials in the lead.

The Bentley Falcons evened up the game at one apiece. Bentley found their stride towards the end of the second period. The Colonials also committed an elbowing penalty, which put the Falcons on the power play, which they capitalized on to take the lead. The Falcons scored two times within two minutes. The second period concluded with Dallas Tulik scoring the equalizing goal. The game was tied at the end of the second period, 2-2. The Colonials had a tremendous offensive zone performance at the end of the second period, which led to a goal.

The Colonials had been getting outshot, as they only had 26 shots compared to Bentley’s 58 shots. Chad Veltri did well in the net despite letting up two goals. The Colonials looked to break the tie in the third.

The third period started well, as both teams had gotten shots on the net, and about five minutes in, the Colonials committed a boarding penalty, which put Bentley back on the powerplay. The Falcons converted on that powerplay, which put them back into the lead. The Falcons brought pressure on Veltri and ended up committing a roughing penalty to put the Colonials on the power play, which Bentley ended up killing. The Colonials didn’t need the power play to score as they evened up the game at three with four minutes remaining. Cameron Garvey notched the game-tying goal.

The Colonials returned after letting up a late goal thanks to the heroics of Cameron Garvey to net two goals. Bentley put pressure on the colonials as they outshot them by 42 but ultimately, the Colonials prevailed.

The Colonials will take on the Bentley Falcons again at the Clearview Arena at 4 P.M on Saturday, October 28th.
