October 8, 2018
Although most teams were home last weekend, Robert Morris had a trio of away games for women’s soccer and women’s hockey. Here is a quick round-up of all the sports that were not home for homecoming weekend.
10/5/18
Women’s Soccer: RMU – 0; Mount St. Mary’s – 2
The Robert Morris women’s soccer team (3-11 overall, 1-3 NEC) dropped their Northeast Conference game against Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers (2-6-3 overall, 1-0-2 NEC) by the score of 2-0 despite a career performance from goalie Julia Schmid. Robert Morris nor Mount St. Mary’s were able to generate goals in the first half, but RMU was able to deliver two shots while the Mountaineers delivered nine shots in the first half. The second was no different as the Colonials got four shots, whereas the Mountaineers got a whopping 17 shots, two of which went in the net thanks to Maddie Tchou who scored on a cross at the 46-minute mark and Jaylyn Chandler who scored on a corner at the 81-minute mark. RMU returns to action at home on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
Women’s Hockey: RMU – 2; Clarkson – 4
The era of RMU women’s hockey (1-2) without former player Brittany Howard took a hit when they dropped the first contest with the nationally ranked Clarkson University Golden Knights (3-0) by a final score of 4-2 on Friday afternoon. Robert Morris scored their only goals in the first and third periods from Amber Rennie, who was assisted by Jaycee Gebhard, and Gebhard, who was assisted by Rennie and Lexi Templeman. Both goals were scored on power plays.
