After shutting out rival St. Francis, it was clear the Colonial defense did their job and put the conference on notice.
Graduate senior linebacker Jamar Shegog earned NEC Defensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon.
Shegog led the game with 10 tackles and .5 tackle for loss, and is third in the conference with 63 tackles.
He is the third Colonial this year to win Defensive Player of the Week, with Tyris Harvey winning once and Keon Freeman twice.
Shegog was named to to this year’s All-Conference Preseason Defensive Team and the Phil Steele Preseason NEC First Team Defense.
The Seton LaSalle High School alum is in his sixth year in a Colonial uniform, with 247 tackles (147 solo) with 6.5 sacks, 6 PBUs, 2 forced fumbles and an interception.
The Colonials will play their last of a four-game homestand against Merrimack Saturday at noon.
