On Wednesday afternoon, former Robert Morris volleyball player Katie Noble was awarded the honor of being named to the Mount Rushmore of volleyball for the Northeast Conference. The NEC is celebrating its 40th season as an NCAA Division I conference, and the NEC is handing out its Mount Rushmore awards for each sport.

In her four years at Robert Morris, Noble was selected as the NEC Player of the Year twice along with being selected to the All-NEC first team all four years of her playing career. She was a part of the Colonials’ efforts to win the NEC Championship all four years and played in all four NCAA Tournaments as well.

In her freshman year, Noble had an impressive season as she totaled a staggering 397 kills that led to her being named to the All-NEC first team in 1999. Also in her rookie campaign, she was a part of Colonials history when RMU struck an impressive 101 kills in a five-set match.

Noble is the only two-time NEC Player of the Year (2001, 2002) in RMU volleyball history. She held the RMU career record for kills with 1,418 before it was eclipsed in 2005, and also ranks fourth in games played (463) and fifth in career attack percentage (.280). During her time as a Colonial, RMU posted an incredible record of 97-50 and 30 of those wins came in one of the best seasons to date for the program when the Colonials set a school record with 30 victories in 2001.

Noble was a force on the court and in her first Player of the Year campaign, she accrued an excellent kill-per-set average with 3.28 kills-per-set and an impressive attacking percentage of .322. In the following year, she improved on that number in her second NEC Player of the Year season with a .367 attack percentage.

In her career at Robert Morris, Noble recorded 463 sets, 132 blocks, and a career .280 attack percentage.

In 2008, she was enshrined in the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame alongside Brian Cleary, Katie Dugan, Tim Levcik, Jarrad Pencek, and Paul Snyder, and she now represents RMU on Mount Rushmore for women’s volleyball in the NEC.
