Freshman defender Madison Prietz for the RMU Women’s Lacrosse team wins MAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
The conference announced the honor Tuesday afternoon.
Prietz dominated over two games last week, scoring a goal in overtime thriller against Old Dominion this past Wednesday. She also registered three ground balls and two draw controls in the Colonials win.
On Saturday against Youngstown State, she would find the back of the net once again, tallying her third goal of the season, a season-high six draw controls, and two ground balls in the win against the Penguins.
The freshman ranks top 10 in the MAC in ground balls per game (2.64), caused turnovers per game (1.36), and draw controls per game (3.64) this season.
Looking ahead, the Colonials are looking to pick up their third straight win, as they host Central Michigan at Joe Walton Stadium this Saturday.
Opening faceoff is set for noon. The Colonials and the Chippewas face off in a crucial conference showdown this weekend.
